literary events happening in the dmv this week: (may 4- may 10)
we're outside this week celebrating all things books and you're coming!
Hey book besties,
the flowers are blooming, your TBR is growing, and DC is poppin’ off with literary goodness this week. Mark your calendars and join us at one (or a few) of these can’t miss events!
May 6 | 7 PM | The DC Pop-Up (1155 Dahlia St NW) *SOLD OUT*
Roseanne is back with Serwa Boateng’s Guide to Saving the World, and she’s teaming up with none other than Rick Riordan for a launch event you’ll be talking about for awhile. Ghanaian mythology, fierce girl power, and major author star power. What more is there to say?
May 7 | 6 PM | The Langston
I’m hosting a cozy, joy-filled book club gathering with all the essentials: great conversation, DIY bookmarks, a DJ, and mocktails. We’re celebrating community and springing into new reads together. You in? Oh forgot to mention, the first 50 readers will receive one of our book club reads!
May 7 | 7 PM | Sixth & I
Get ready to see an icon! Isabel Allende will discuss her latest novel, My Name is Emilia Del Valle, in a special convo moderated by First Lady Dr. Jill Biden. A masterclass in storytelling, resilience, and womanhood.
May 8 | 7 PM | East City Bookshop
Head to East City Bookshop to hear journalist Abigail Leonard is diving into the legacy and ripple effects of four women who shaped a movement in Four Mothers. She’s chatting with Ali Rogin about motherhood, policy, and how personal stories shape public life.
May 10 | 11 AM | Hill Prince Bar
The celebrations continue for one of our most anticipated reads of 2025! Join us this Saturday to toast the release of Happy Land with author Dolen Perkins-Valdez who will be in conversation with legend, Jacquline Woodson. There will be books. There will be joy. There might be mimosas. All we need is YOU!
That’s your lineup for the week, friend! If you made it this far, treat yourself to a walk in the sunshine (with an audiobook, of course). Don’t forget to tag me if you head to any events. I love seeing our community out and about!
